Action-Packed New Red-Band Trailer for Mark Wahlberg Film ‘Mile 22’

The new red-band trailer for Peter Berg’s Mile 22 features Mark Wahlberg and company using a variety of deadly force in this upcoming action-thriller.

Wahlberg plays an elite intelligence agent who along with his tactical command unit’s task is to offer safe transportation of a mysterious police officer (Iko Uwais), who holds sensitive information about an impending terrorist attack on US soil.

Plot-wise, it’s classic action-movie stuff.

So what makes Mile 22 different from the countless others that have come before it?

It doesn’t seem like much judging by the new red-band trailer, however, that’s not to say the movie doesn’t look pretty cool, because it does.

Indonesian actor and martial arts superstar Iko Uwais (from The Raid films) gets some extra attention in this new trailer, and the fight scenes he’s involved in are violently spectacular.

Uwais is always excellent to watch, and the raw, grounded style of filmmaking that Peter Berg is going for in this film complements his martial arts fighting skills perfectly.

Berg’s style also makes the gun-play look incredibly tense (think Michael Mann’s 1995 classic Heat, which set the benchmark for gritty shootout scenes).

The film features an excellent ensemble cast, that along with Wahlberg and Uwais includes The Walking Dead alumni Lauren Cohan, the former professional fighter turned professional wrestler Ronda Rousey, and screen legend John Malkovich.

So while originality might not be this film’s strong point, there’s definitely a lot of other elements that should make for some entertaining viewing.

Mile 22 releases across cinemas on 23 August 2018.
